October 10, Riverhead, NY--- A cloudy, overcast somewhat muggy day with the threat for afternoon or evening showers started our final race day of the season.

         Upon entering the track, all Figure-8 competitors were asked to pull a number out of a can. This would be your race starting position.  Even though we were running for Riverhead Raceway track final points of the season, we were not to be handicapped as normally done.

        Tom Kraft pulled position #1, and Roger Maynor pulled position #2; fitting as they were running for top honors in the division. Mike Mujsce and Arne Pedersen pulled the next available starting spots.

        The race was a wreck-fest to say the least. Tom and Roger led the field to a even paced start, and then the fun began. The front running four cars set off on a fast and furious pace with the rest of the field in pursuit.

        Through numerous crashes, spins, and a few caution flags thrown, the field finally trimmed its starting field of 16 cars to a mere few left on the lead lap at the end of the race. Roger Maynor captured win #6 of 2008, with Tom Kraft 2nd, and Arne Pedersen 3rd.The #63 of Paul Specht started 12 and finished 4th for the night followed by #0 of Tom Ferrara who had started 13th .

        There were so many crashes, with broken cars and equipment I was unable to keep notes current or even see all the things as they were happening. Suffice it to say, those that finished in the top 5 positions earned those honors tonight. To keep your car race worthy and unscathed was a feat in itself.

         Congratulations to all those who raced this season... it was one of the better seasons we have had in a few years.

         CONGRATULATIONS to Roger Maynor for winning the race tonight along with the CHAMPIONSHIP. The season ended with Tom Kraft finishing in 2nd place, and Paul Specht a strong 3rd place showing.
