TK Takes First of Season July 12, Riverhead, NY--- A beautiful warm, sunny day with a light breeze and low humidity was on the menu for racing today.
Scott Pedersens' #27 and Mike Mujsces #13 led us to the start of
our race. Within the very first laps contact was made between the
two. Scott Pedersen broke a front brake rotor and Mike Mujsces'
steering was also damaged. This brought the cagey veteran Tom
Kraft, maneuvering past the damaged cars, quickly into first with
Paul Specht now moving into second.
The racing again picked-up in speed and intensity. Lap after lap Kraft ran with Specht, Kenny Hyde, Arne Pedersen, and Tom Ferrara in pursuit. Some cars were now experiencing mechanical problems and making for a race where you must pass them by to try and catch the field. The #00 and #13 for a while were running close by each other, unfortunately both cars had mechanical problems and were holding up some of the field from easily getting past. Once past these two though, the field had spread out to a distance where crossing at the "X" was going to be done repeatedly by many racers. A few good moves and smart driving brought Carl Baxter and Roger Maynor through the field and within striking distance of the front runners. Once again, they cars were back to hard racing, crosses at the "X", and near misses for all competitors. Tom Kraft was able to keep his hard-earned 1st place with Paul Specht 2nd, Carl Baxter 3rd. and Roger Maynor 4th. Congratulations TK on your first win of this season!!!
SIDE NOTES: Eddie Mistretta came over last night to where Roger
Maynor, Carl Baxter and Paul Spechts' cars were parked, to let us
know he will be returning to race with our division next
week. Welcome Back Eddie...
A belated CONGRATULATIONS to Mike Mujsce and Debbie... they officially got engaged on July 4th!!! |
