SONNY 'IRON MAN' DENSIESKI HONORED WITH INDUCTION
by Joe Saraceno
Sonny Densieski is probably the hardest-working person at Riverhead Raceway on any given Saturday or Sunday. The Riverhead Raceway track welder is probably responsible for getting more people on the race track than anyone else.
He will start early afternoon fixing pieces from his Iron Man Welding truck that just don't work right to late nights past midnight... oft times putting wrecked cars back together just so they can get back on the trailer to go home. There are even times that I've seen him putting time in to fixing the trailers and car haulers themselves that end up with some kind of problem and just can't leave the race track without some kind of help.
Sonny has been doing this for everyone in all racing divisions from Go Karts to Modifieds, while doing a terrific job. He works with the Enduro cars and the Demolition Derby cars to make certain that they get those welds done and the holes cut, etc. You all know what I mean.
He doesn't often get to see the end of many races because he's seen working on cars and trucks all night long. He even fixes the track exit gates after they've been blasted so bad that they won't open or close. I know that everyone agrees that Sonny has well earned the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
